Van Leer Tigers look to have found their winning form as they proceed to the next round of the plate. Van Leer Tigers cruisingly beat Springhead Rangers, who coincedently defeated Van Leer in a friendly earlier this year, 4-3. Van Leer wasted no time in this fixture, as in the first 20 seconds, Alan Peak broke through, but unfortunately, keeper saving the low drive from the striker. Van Leer didn't hang back, when a freekick was given. Green shot, hit the crossbar, and Axon cooly sealed the rebound. Both teams had their chances, but finishing/goal keeping quality was all but ecstatic, until Taylor crossed in, to meet Steel's head, to increase their lead to 2-0. As the first half began to come to a close, Axon squeezed in a 3rd, securing a half time lead for the Tigers. Seconds remaining on the clock, and Springhead scored a consilation goal just before half time.
The players refreshed after the break, and Springhead started to turn on the volume. But, Taylor struck from outside the area, to make it 4-1, and things started to get dark for Springhead. Springhead began to play some very entertaining football, and scored, which gave them light, maybe to get back in the game. But, unfortunately for Springhead, Peak beat the offside trap, and secured the victory, 5-2. Well played to Springhead, the fairest side we have played all season.
